Ochiishi Nature Cruise
Departing from the Ochiishi area, a small boat will take you out onto the open sea where you’ll be able to see the spectacular scenery from a whole new angle. As you take in Cape Nosappu and the islands of Yururi and Moyururi from the sea, you’ll see wild birds flying past and marine life in the sea around Nemuro. Enjoy the sea breeze as you catch glimpses of rare creatures in their natural habitat.

Tufted Puffin (Etopirika)
This bird gets its Japanese name from the Ainu phrase etu pirka, which means “beautiful beak”. Yururi and Moyururi Islands are reportedly the only places in Japan where the tufted puffin breeds.
Sea Otter
Japan’s aquariums only have a few sea otters in captivity, but you might get the chance to see them in the wild on the nature cruise.
Yururi and Moyururi Islands
These two islands are protected bird sanctuaries so you need special permission to land on them, but the Ochiishi Nature Cruise sails right up to the islands, giving you a close view. There are some endangered species, such as the tufted puffin and the red-faced cormorant, that can only be seen from this vicinity.
